Dutch Designers, Bold Monkey: Why be normal when you can be EXTRA
WHY BE NORMAL WHEN YOU CAN BE EXTRA
I’ve always loved being a bit different. When I was growing up I was into dressing in a very punky way and listening to Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Cure whilst my peers were more into Duran Duran & Spandau Ballet. I’m still the same now (minus the Mohican hair). I certainly don’t want my home to be the same as everyone else’s and I am drawn to bold, unique design. I like to inject personality into my interiors and I’ve reached the stage where it’s actually very liberating not to worry if people love or hate my choices.
I’m also a sucker for great branding so when I stumbled across Bold Monkey I was in absolute heaven. It felt like the designers had somehow got inside my head and could see all the cool stuff I had been searching for but had been unable to find.
STAY BOLD NOT BEIGE – this is what the inside of my head looks like
Bold Monkey designs collectables. Extravagant collectors’ items that love to be the centre of attention. Aimed at those design lovers that will always go for unique instead of uniform but with products that won’t break the bank. Why be normal when you can be extra?
So who are these guys who are creating such incredible Bad Ass designs?
Bold Monkey are a team of Dutch interior design enthusiast led by Richard Halberstadt who describes Bold Monkey as his own personal design playground.
A colourful feast for the eyes
My absolute favourite piece is the DOPE AS HELL COFFEE TABLE. A Limited Edition black panther coffee table, with a gold medallion around its neck. The medallion has a unique number on it to show you which of the 1000 limited edition pieces yours is. I have this coffee table as my bedside table and it just adds an edge to all the pretty florals in the room.

Another piece I adore is the TOO PRETTY TO SIT ON SOFA, a lozenge shaped velvet sofa in a subtle animal print with studs and a gold trim around the base. I mean those details are just fabulous.
